Grilled Steak Board for Summer Entertaining
There is something special about gathering around a table filled with simple, seasonal food. Whether you’re hosting Father’s Day, a backyard barbecue, a summer dinner party, or a casual weekend gathering, this Grilled Steak Board is one of my favorite ways to serve a crowd.

Instead of plating individual meals, everything is arranged on one large board—perfectly grilled steak, colorful vegetables, crispy potatoes, fresh bread, and flavorful sauces. Guests can build their own plates, sample a little of everything, and linger around the table a little longer.
The best part? Most of the components can be prepared ahead of time, making entertaining feel easy and relaxed.

What’s Included on the Board
While this board is impressive enough for special occasions, its built from simple ingredients that are easy to prepare and customize. Here’s everything you’ll need to create this beautiful board.
- Steak – flank steak, skirt steak, or sirloin
- Vegetables – asparagus, zucchini, bell peppers, cherry tomatoes
- Starches – roasted baby potatoes, toasted crostini, crusty artisan bread
- Sauces & Spreads – Chimichurri sauce, Boursin cheese, Horseradish cream, Balsamic glaze
- Garnishes – fresh arugula, chopped parsley, fresh basil, lemon wedges

How to Make the Steak
Remove steak from the refrigerator about 30 minutes before grilling. Brush lightly with olive oil and season generously with kosher salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Preheat a gas grill to medium-high heat (about 450°F). Grill steak for approximately:
- 4–5 minutes per side for medium-rare
- 5–6 minutes per side for medium
Remove from grill and allow the steak to rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Slice thinly against the grain for the most tender texture.
Prepare the Vegetables
Toss vegetables with olive oil, salt, and pepper. Grill:
- Asparagus: 4–5 minutes
- Zucchini: 3–4 minutes per side
- Peppers and Tomatoes: 3–5 minutes
Remove and set aside.
Roast the Potatoes
Toss baby potatoes with olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Roast at 425°F for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
Assemble the Board
Arrange the sliced steak in the center of a large wooden serving board. Surround with:
- Grilled vegetables
- Roasted potatoes
- Crostini
- Artisan bread
- Small bowls of sauces and spreads
Finish with fresh herbs and lemon wedges.
Steak Board Variations
One of the reasons I love serving a steak board is how easy it is to customize. Swap in your favorite seasonal vegetables, try different sauces and spreads, or add additional proteins to suit the occasion. Whether you’re serving a casual family dinner or hosting a summer gathering, this board can be adapted to fit your guests, your menu, and the flavors of the season. In summer adding grilled corn and heirloom tomatoes would be a nice addition. For a heartier gathering adding grilled shrimp, chicken or sausage alongside the steak would be great too. Here are some more variations you could try:
Mediterranean Style – Add hummus, feta cheese, olives, cucumber salad, and pita bread.
Southwest Style – Include grilled corn, avocado, pico de gallo, chipotle aioli, and tortilla chips.
Garden Party Style – Use seasonal vegetables from your garden, fresh herbs, goat cheese, and lemon vinaigrette.
